Rainy day afternoon games

Raining outside, you are sitting in a cozy warm room under a blanket. Only one question remains. Which game to play? This is a good time to dust off some old games, or try out something new, or a game about which you have heard so much.

My top 5 coziest games for a rainy day

5. Alice: Madness Returns

Our heorine, Alice thinks she is starting to go nuts. Or maybe it is real? Interesting, dark mood, goes well with the rain.

4. Slender The Arrival

Rainy days also a great time to play horror games. The sound of the rain, a creepy tall guy behind you...

3. Any Harry Potter game

Everyone knows what a cozy atmosphere has the Hogwarts. The games give back this atmosphere pretty good, mostly the Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix...

2. Game of Thrones

Not one of the best gameplays or graphics, but the story is great, just like every story in Westeros.

1. The Longest Journey

Little old, but all-time favorite. Not like any other adventure games, has interesting story, great mood, two worlds...

Weekly Games Fun

Remember when FPS maps were fun? Pepperridge farm remembers. You had hours of fun just to explore whole maps full with secrets, collectibles and extra stuff. You had puzzles, you had to use your brain. Now it's full with cutscenes. You go around the corner: cutscene... You look out the window: cutscene... I mean come on I'm not watching a movie I want to PLAY!!!

Minecraft Disney Castle
I can't believe someone really had so much free time and patience to make this...

You know that feel when you spend hourse creating the eprfect character appearence, adjusting every slider that exists, and then playing tha gem in helmet?

Devil May Cry - Beating Bob's Giant Head Guide

Didn't had any trouble with any of the foes until this point. Little trouble, but after a couple of tries I figured it out. I didn't really like how this enemy looks. I loved more the demonish looking foes, mostly the Harpies. But oh well I get past it. At first I realized that there are those shiny red thingys on the ground, but somehow didn't get to my mind that I have to do something with them.

Attacks

He has 4 kind of attacks. You can see which one is coming when it satrts forming under the giant Bob head

Green one

It starts two beams, which you can avoid easily by jumping over them.

 Yellow one

Shoots a circular attack all over the place. You have to watch out for the gaps, where you can jump through it.

Purple one

This one's easy. Shoots three beams, close to the ground, can easily jump above it.

Blue one

This are the slowest to charge, so you will have plenty of time to run to safety. This is one huge beam. My tip is just run from it.

Now that we know about the attacks, we can look at the red spots on the ground. You have to bash them with the eryx stomp attack, until then it is pretty hard to kill it. Once you enter his vulnerable side, you can hit him. After a while he will charge an orange attack, just avoid it and you can hit him again. Once finished with one health bar of Bob, you enter his eye and have to fight a couple of weaker enemies. After this you're back to his invincible state. Now you have to bash two red thingies. The same story as before, and you have to do it third time, now bashing 3 thingies (you have to be really quick here or they restart themselves).

That's it you beat Bob's Giant Head!

Go Home Dinosaurs! (you are drunk)

I was searching for some relaxing game where I don't really need to think, and is pretty simple, maybe something like Plants vs. Zombies, a little towerdefense game, when I found this little game. It's a BBQ defense simulator. We have our little Gophers, who want a nice picnic. But then come the big bad dinos who want their food. So our Gophers suddenly become pro soldiers, and fight the dinos dance moves, laserbeams, and even with one of the biggest fear of the dinos: METEORS!!!

Here's  a gameplay trailer:

The game itself is a simple tower-defense game, but with funny elements. You need to defend your meet, every level 3 of it. You have your Gopher cards for this, some of them have pretty neat guns, some of them dancefloors. They use whatever they can put their paws on... A great advantage against the dinos (and other tower-defense games) is that your little hero Gopher can itself attack the dinos. Besides this if you gather enough coins, you can buy cute and crazy costumes for him, like a zombie, chef, etc.

Beside choosing the cards you want to use it doesn't require much planning. You can choose from a couple of cards, keeping in mind what kind of dinos will attack, gather the coconuts and kick their asses.

What I mostly enjoyed about this game is their little quirks. They have such qoutes like Winter is coming!, which is funny if you were watching or reading Game of thrones. (Or simply surfing the internet, there is no way you haven't heard about this line at least).

About the style
It has a cute, colorful, lively artstyle. So if you want a fun little game after a complex rpg or strategy game this is best for you. It is available on Steam (On Steam) if you're into it, or simply buy it, it's not too expensive, i'ts about the right price.

 Minimum system requirements:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, 1.70 GHz
Video card: GeForce 210
RAM: 1024 MB
OS: Windows XP
Free Space: 450 MB

Final Score:

85%

Fun, cute little game, pretty enjoyable.

Preview: 7 days to die

You like Minecraft? You like zombies? Here's a perfect game for you!!! I'm not good at advertising.

So this is a new game, I accidently stumbled upon when I was reading some gaming news instead of working on my grad project.
First off please watch the pre-alpha trailer before reading my opinion about it so I won't be responsable for any bad influence.

Now, that you have your opinion you can read mine. OMG I'm really excited about this game. It's simple, postapocaliptyc zombies-come-at-night survival game. No big story, no hour-length cutscenes (I hope, beacuse somtimes they really annoy me, although I mostly prefer games with good stories).

*I was wondering while watching a french presentation video if zombies are called zombie in every language?

So basically the gameplay is similar to minecraft. You have a world made out of cubes which you can mine, pick up, etc., and craft stuff out of it to survive. Although the graphics are a little more up to date, than in minecraft, I like the idea of a world made out of cubes. Also love the idea of having guns to defend yourself from the zombies that come at night to kill you.

The game will be released in fall.

Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands

Lately I've been a little nostalgic about some games, and I was playing the new Tomb Raider. I was climbing on a rock and I suddenly rememberd how much I liked jumping and climbing stuff in Prince of Persia so I installed the Forgotten Sands. I remembered playing the Sands of Time, which I liked veeeery much in it's time. But now I wasn't too impressed with the Forgotten Sands.
Here's the trailer if you don't know this game (what I think is simply impossible):

The story revolves around The Prince (of course) in time placed between the Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Then comes Malik, his brother, to release the Sand army (what a fool) to save his kingdom (with good intention), creating a little problem for our hero here.

The graphics are pretty good, it's a game from 2010, I know it can't look like a game from 2100. The characters and everything are made quite well. Love the style and artwork of the games as well.

The gameplay is pretty simple, it's like any other action game with a sword. You have basic attack, some special attacks, later some pretty awesome powers with sand and time. You can climb, roll, jump and make some awesome parkour moves. There was only one problem. After like half an hour I got bored. I know the beginning it's like a tutorial, and it needs to be simple to get to know the keys, gameplay, etc. But still it seemed too simple for me, and I was playing in normal mode.
Here's a little gameplay video, if you're like me and like to know how to play a game to see if you will like it: (have to mention I didn't made the video)

The puzzles are too simple (of course I will keep playing, I know later will be harder), but this made me pretty dissapointed at first.

I have one more issue with the game. The area, where you can move freely is pretty single-lined. There aren't really any sidetracks, (again maybe because I haven't played it enough), and that really bothers me. Maybe this is only me, I looove games with huge maps where I can choose my own destiny. I'm a free bitch, fuck yeah!!!

So in conclusion I won't give up and keep playing after a little foodbreak, and I really hope things will be getting harder (if you know what I mean).

Other tehcnical infos that you might need to know:
The game is availabe on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and some other platforms (exclusive only and I don't really know what that means). I can only play it on PC, I don't have any other platform, so I can't tell you how it works on them.
The game is made by Ubisoft, and I really love them one of my faves.
